Basic Fire Fighting Level 1
COURSE BACKGROUND
The five day RESCUE ONE Fire Fighter Training Program is based on N.F.P.A. (National Fire Fighting Protection Association) standards. These standards are adopted by fire departments all across North America. The program will assist in developing a fire department or brigade in remote or isolated communities, training individuals to become fire fighters thereby being self-reliant in dealing with fire/rescue emergency situations.
The lessons are all hands-on, solving real life problems, and practising the skills to save lives.
The focus is on fire fighting and team work as it relates to:
Operational Safety
Hazard Awareness
Self Rescue and Rescue of Teammates
Rescue of Victims
Fire Suppression
Equipment Maintenance
Department Responsibilities

PARTICIPANT RESPONSIBILITIES
Your safety is critical. The instructors will not ask you to do anything they believe you are physically unable to complete. However, if you feel that any portion of an assignment is beyond your capabilities you may decide to excuse yourself from that particular part of the activity. Each participant is required to dedicate the five days of training to this course, so that the team is fully prepared.
WHAT EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED
As part of RESCUE ONE's service to you and before the scheduled five day course has begun, one of your instructors will make an appointment to spend one day in your area as a consultant. Your consultant will evaluate the equipment you already have and make recommendations for additional required items that you should consider purchasing.
Your consultant can make the purchases on your behalf, ensuring your budget is strictly followed. There will be no mark up on purchases, no commission and no charge for our expertise and knowledge. We offer this service to you so that when the course begins, you have the necessary, proper equipment.
When you and your consultant are satisfied that all the equipment is in place, your five day course will be scheduled. We will provide one instructor for approximately every 6 participants.
YOUR INSTRUCTORS
Ray Chickite is the Director of Training, and heads the instructor teams for RESCUE ONE. Ray has been a municipal fire fighter for ten years. He has also been an airport firefighter, a paramedic and rescue specialist.

BENEFITS OF TRAINING IN YOUR AREA
- You do not incur any additional costs for travelling from your community and paying for lodging and food.
- You will train on equipment you have so when the course is completed, your skills will be readily applicable to your own community. You will not train on "Nice to Have" equipment that an institution will provide for training purposes only. You will train with familiar tools in applicable surroundings.
YOUR PRICE IS ALL INCLUSIVE

- RESCUE ONE will evaluate and make recommendations of equipment.
- RESCUE ONE will make purchses agreed on as per your instructions and on your behalf.
- RESCUE ONE will instruct your course.
- RESCUE ONE will act as consultant, making recommendations specific to your area.
- RESCUE ONE will be available by telephone for one year for support.
- RESCUE ONE will provide training booklets for you to use throughout the year to ensure an ongoing practice of skills. Concerns can be written down to be discussed and addressed with RESCUE ONE during support meetings.
- RESCUE ONE will come back to your area up to one year after course completion to make sure operations are proceeding as planned and re-evaluation to see if your needs have changed or additional training is requested by your fire crews.
A minimum of six participants is required.
