AED
RESCUE ONE has an A.E.D. for the protection of the people we serve.
A.E.D. is an Automatic External Defibrillator. It delivers an electric shock in attempt to restart the heart.
We were the first industrial ambulance company in Canada to receive the medical endorsement and license to practice this life saving skill and have the equipment on board. We work under a doctor of emergency medicine in Vancouver, who oversees our training through the Justice Institute. RESCUE ONE's technical supervisor, Ray Chickite is an A.E.D. Instructor with the Justice Institute.
Within four minutes of a person's heart stopping, the effects are usually irreversible.
The best treatment in these circumstances is a controlled shock directly to the heart in an attempt to actually restart the heart.
That is what RESCUE ONE Paramedic trained attendants will do. We have an AED, the training and the experience to deliver this life saving treatment. Back to Top
Rope Rescue
CMC California Mountain Company provides our Technical Rescue Equipment. We use static kernmantle rope in all of our rope systems. We also use a variety of basket stretchers, depending on the application.
FireMedics have been trained by leading Rope Rescue trainers; Roco, JI and Dodd/Beals Fire Protection Training Academy. Back to Top
Fire Gear
All gear is NFPA approved Nomex. The custom made turnout gear is manufactured by Starfield Canada.
RESCUE ONE chose highly visible royal blue with yellow reflective taping and logos to identify our personnel as FIREMEDICS because they perform dual function; Firefighter and Medic.
Our SCBAs are MSA and Survivair - which allows us to be protected in smokey, toxic, oxygen deficient atmospheres. Turnout gear and SCBAs are carried in the Rescue One ambulances. Back to Top
Water Craft
Our boats are stocked with trauma first aid equipment, communications, spineboard, water safety equipment and dive gear. Our boats are tended by paramedic trained attendants, so that in the event of an emergency, a patient pulled from the water will be given immediate treatment in the boat. In addition to the emergency equipment that will be transferred from an ETV to the Water Craft, each boat has life vests, life ring, pole, floater coats and blankets.
We have a variety of boats available from zodiacs to Boston Whaler style. Back to Top
Dive Equipment
We use dry suits with EXO-26 full face masks with underwater wireless communications. This allows us to talk diver to diver and diver to boat tender.
We have the ability to use surface supplied air umbilical cords, but prefer the flexibility of high pressure SCUBA tanks for Dive Rescue work.
All Diver Medics are WCB certified as well as trained by Dive Rescue International - a world renowned instructional agency.
RESCUE ONE can also provide water based firefighting stand-by for boats, barges and land.

Training Equipment
All the equipment (with the exception of the Laerdal mankins) is the same equipment we use in the field. Whether it is for Fire, Medical or Rescue services, we train with equipment we use.
RESCUE ONE continually researches each product and evaluates it for maximum efficiency. If it doesn't work in the field, we don't use it in the classroom.
All equipment is maintained to the highest standards and is replaced when necessary. Back to Top
